McLaughlin & Associates is very happy to relay to you the results of the March 2, 2004, primary elections in California. Our client, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, easily won nomination for re-election despite a challenge from former Congressman Bob Dornan, while two key ballot propositions comprising the "California Balanced Budget Package" also passed by wide margins, with strong backing from another M&A client, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Governor Schwarzenegger, through his California Recovery Team, pushed hard for Proposition 57 (the Economic Recovery Bond Act), which allows California to restructure its current debt; voters agreed, passing the measure with 63% of the vote. The Governor also lent his backing to Proposition 58 (the California Balanced Budget Act), which implements measures to require a balanced budget each year and allows for a "Rainy Day" fund which would protect against future economic downturns; this measure also passed, with 71% of the vote. Congressman Rohrabacher (CA-46) garnered more than four-fifths (84%) of the vote over former Republican congressman Bob Dornan. Our congratulations go out also to the Governor's political strategists, Mike Murphy and Don Sipple, with whom we're proud to have worked on these propositions. Review our Privacy Notice.
