IT’S OFFICIAL, THE NASSAU COUNTY REPUBLICANS ARE THE WINNERS!
After a month-long recount, County Executive-Elect Ed Mangano has been named the winner. On Tuesday, December 1st, with Ed Mangano leading by 377 votes out of the nearly 250,000 votes that were cast, Tom Suozzi conceded defeat and officially paved the way for a Republican take-over of the County Executive seat and the County Legislature.
McLaughlin & Associates is pleased to extend our congratulations to Nassau County Republican Chairman Joseph N. Mondello, Executive Director Tony Santino, County Executive-Elect Ed Mangano, the entire Nassau County Republican Committee, and all of the winning Republican candidates with whom we worked on successful elections at the town and county levels:
Ed Mangano, County Executive, Nassau County, NY George Maragos, County Comptroller, Nassau County, NY Joe Belisi, County Legislator (LD 14), Nassau County, NY John Ciotti, County Legislator (LD 3), Nassau County, NY Howard Kopel, County Legislator (LD7), Nassau County, NY John Venditto, Town Supervisor, Oyster Bay, NY Kate Murray, Town Supervisor, Hempstead, NY Mark Bonilla, Town Clerk, Hempstead, NY Anthony Santino, Town Council District 4, Hempstead, NY Gary Hudes, Town Council District 6, Hempstead, NY
It was a pleasure and an honor to be part of this historic election and we are proud to have been part of the Republican / Tax Revolt Team. As early as September 27th, our polling showed incumbent Tom Suozzi to be very vulnerable, with his ballot rating well under the 50% benchmark needed to win. Suozzi barely led the much lesser known Ed Mangano by only 6-points: Suozzi 39%, Mangano 33% and 28% undecided. Even more telling, Ed Mangano was winning among voters who have heard of both candidates: Mangano 41%, Suozzi 32%, and undecided 28%. These voters made up over two-thirds of the electorate. It proved that as the campaign progressed and the voters learned of both candidates, they were more likely to support Ed Mangano.
In the New York Post, Tom Suozzi is quoted as saying, “Nobody saw this coming. Anybody that tells you, ‘Oh, this was going to happen,’ they’re not telling the truth”. Well, we saw it coming, we just didn’t tell him about it.
